You can avoid this issue by creating a base child theme to make all your specific customizations and template modifications/style property changes to. When upgrading in the future, you only have to upgrade the base skin.

Does this mean that my theme is already a child?

So my question now is how to a create the child one? Is there a way to copy what I have now into a child theme so I don't have to redo all the settings? Thanks.

You can export your current style then import it as child of Tellurium base style.

Trying to upgrade, but I receive the message:
The provided file is not valid style XML

    • Step 4: And then, please choose Appearance tab, then click at "Import a Style" and a "Import a Style" window appears. Browse INSTALL_SECOND_style-NameOfStyle.xml, for example INSTALL_SECOND_style-Aluminium.xml. At “Import as”, please click on "Overwrite style" and choose “NameOfStyle”, for example Aluminium. In the following step, you click on Import and wait until that the system completes setting progress.
